Images are available as high resolution color JPEG images. Most are approximately 8 inches by 10 inches at 300 dpi resolution, compressed to high quality JPG format. Compressed images will be +/- 750k, and will take 3 to 6 minutes to download with a 56K modem connection. These images are free. These images contain embedded captions and keywords in industry standard Newspaper Association of America (NAA)/ International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC) format.

To download high resolution images from Internet Explorer/Netscape Navigator/Safari

Right Click on the image. (control click for Mac users)
Select the "Save this image as..." option from the pull-down menu that appears.
Choose the destination file where you want to save the image.
Click "Save" and the image will begin to download to the chosen location.

Note: If prompted to save as format "Source" or "Text," select "Source."

Archived Images Available for Download

Photos that are older than 18 months are not available online in a hi-resolution format. These photos may be requested via email at pressphoto@oscars.org. Please include the photo file name and allow up to 2 business days for delivery. (If this matter is time sensitive, please contact the Academy's Publicity Department directly at (310) 247-3090.)

Downloading Via E-mail

If you are having difficulty downloading images, you may have high resolution images delivered to you via e-mail. Just click on the "Deliver Hi Rez via E-mail" link and the image will be sent to you. We always use the e-mail address you specified when you registered for our site. You can not have images sent to other addresses.

Downloading Limits

This web site limits the number of high resolution images you can download per day. If you have a legitimate need to download large numbers of photos at a time, please contact us at pressphoto@oscars.org with your request. Please be sure to include your user name, desired daily limit, and the reason you would like your limit raised.
